Tide’s Hilariously Odd Super Bowl Ad Stars Jason Alexander, in Disrespected Hoodie Form


A teenage boy’s sweatshirt gets used and abused in a Tide ad set to run in Super Bowl 55—but this is more than a day in the life of a grimy, generic jacket.

The spot introduces us to the Jason Alexander Hoodie, plastered with the former Seinfeld star’s computer-generated face, which changes expression to reflect each contact with something gross. There’s dog drool, chewed gum and table scraps, just for starters.

The 60-second spot, a follow-up to Tide’s procrastination-themed ad series from Super Bowl 2020, taps into at least a few current trends, including nostalgia for classic ’90s TV shows and high-concept commercials meant to dose the Big Game with silliness and levity.
